Before the 2023/2024 season, Montpellier HSC strengthened their squad with the addition of Akor Adams, the third top scorer from the Norwegian elite division of the previous season. The Nigerian striker made a powerful start to his season in France, closely trailing Kylian Mbappe in the Ligue 1 top scorers list. 

The success of the most expensive player in the French team has attracted interest from other European clubs, with West Ham United F.C. reportedly eyeing the 23-year-old forward.

The forward from the Nigerian youth national team joined the French club in the summer of 2023, with the agreement set to last until June 30, 2027. Although Nigeria reached the Round of 16, losing to Senegal 2-1, Adams did not participate in the playoff matches. However, he has not уet been called up to the senior Nigerian national team.
