Super Eagles and Nottingham Forest striker, Emmanuel Dennis, is reportedly being targeted by Scottish giants Glasgow Rangers, according to Soccernet.NG.
The Scottish club’s boss, Philippe Clement, expressed a keen interest in securing the services of the Nigerian forward. According to reports from Soccernet.NG and Rangers News, Nottingham Forest could demand up to €23 million for Dennis, when according to Transfermarkt the player’s current market value estimates just at €5,5 million. He is currently playing on loan in Turkish club Istanbul Basaksehir.
Dennis, 26, made a move to Nottingham Forest in the summer of 2022 from Watford after their relegation from the English Premier League in the 2021/2022 season. Despite being a regular in the starting lineup during his first season under manager Steve Cooper, the Nigerian international struggled to find the back of the net, scoring just two goals in twenty-five appearances.
The start of the new season saw Dennis face increased competition with the arrivals of Chris Wood and Divock Origi, causing him to fall down the pecking order. Subsequently, he embarked on a loan move to Istanbul Basaksehir, where his goal drought continued, failing to score or assist in eight appearances. Recent reports suggest that his loan spell in Turkey might be cut short in the current transfer window.
Rangers, who already have Fabio Silva and Cyriel Dessers as striking options, are reportedly looking to bolster their attacking options, with Philippe Clement expressing admiration for Dennis’s unpredictable playing style. The potential €23 million transfer would reunite the pair who previously worked together in the Belgian Pro League during their time at Club Brugge.
Despite not making the final cut in Jose Peseiro’s 25-man squad for the Super Eagles, Dennis has received praise from the Rangers coach following their recent 3-1 victory over Kilmarnock. The transfer speculation adds an intriguing element to the ongoing transfer window, as Rangers aim to strengthen their squad for the challenges ahead in the Scottish Premiership.
