Enugu Rangers FC has reinforced its squad ahead of the resumption of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season on February 14th by securing the services of six new players, as per The Guardian.
This move comes as the club aims to enhance its prospects for continental qualification in the ongoing 2023/24 NPFL campaign.
The new arrivals, announced by Enugu Rangers’ Media Officer, Norbert Okolie, include Uchenna Ezeala, a central defender from Go-Round FC; Zulkifilu Mohammed Rabiu, a support striker recruited from Lobi Stars; and Odo Joshua Chidiebere, a versatile central attacker who arrives from the Saudi Arabian league.
Additionally, the club has welcomed Ogbodo Kelechi Emmanuel, a midfielder from Disdeft Football Academy; Aniji Ifeanyichukwu Michael, an attacking midfielder previously with Flying Angels F.C; and Nebo Tochukwu Kingsley, a left-winger from Olicon Rovers F.C of Enugu.
These new acquisitions are set to fill the void left by the departure of six players who have been loaned out to various clubs, including Joel Okoro, Leonard Ugochukwu, Malachi Ohawume, Jonas Emmanuel, and Barnabas Ingya.
Amobi Ezeaku, the CEO of Enugu Rangers, expressed satisfaction with the club’s recruitment strategy, emphasizing the blend of experience and youth among the new signings. He expressed optimism that these additions would provide the coaching staff with the necessary options to compete for trophies in both the league and federation cup.
Coach Fidelis Ilechukwu echoed Ezeaku’s sentiments, affirming the club’s readiness for the challenges ahead. He emphasized the importance of a balanced squad and expressed confidence in the team’s ability to achieve its season objectives.
