Ibrahim Olawoyin Continues to Shine in Turkey: Salary and Prospects of the Midfielder

Having moved to Europe at the age of 24, Ibrahim Olawoyin immediately became a key player first for Ankara Keciorengucu S.K., and then for Caykur Rizespor, helping the latter return to the elite Turkish division. Now the Nigerian is fighting not only for a possible spot in the European cups but also for the interest from other teams. The Kick Off Nigeria looks into the player’s finances. 

What is Ibrahim Olawoyin’s salary at Caykur Rizespor? 

The Nigerian national team midfielder joined the Turkish team in the winter of 2023: the current agreement is set to expire in 2026. Over three years in Turkey, he will receive €1,140,000 excluding bonuses. For the 2023/2024 season, Olawoyin will earn €380,000, which amounts to €7,308 weekly.

Team Salary Overview: Olawoyin in the Top-5 Highest-Paid Non-European Players 

For the 2023/2024 season, Caykur Rizespor’s total expenditure on salaries amounts to €17,220,000, that is, €331,154 per week. The highest-paid player on the team is midfielder Jonjo Shelvey. The former England national team player receives €6,400,000 a year: €123,077 per week.

Ibrahim Olawoyin, in turn, occupies the 9th place in the salary ranking. This is the seventh indicator among foreign players of the Turkish club. Additionally, the Nigerian midfielder rounds out the top five highest-paid non-European footballers at Caykur Rizespor. The Danish defender Casper Hojer, who follows him, earns €10,000 less. Also, the Nigerian has the third largest salary among the African players of the team. The Senegalese Oumar Diouf, who is in fourth place, earns €50,000 less.

After a bright start in Turkey, the Nigerian midfielder moved to Caykur Rizespor. At the same time his salary increased approximately 19 times, becoming the highest in his football career.

Market Value: Rapid Growth After Moving to Turkey 

In one and a half season at Ankara Keciorengucu S.K., the Nigerian secured a place as a key player and recorded 28 goal involvements. Thanks to his bright performances, by the time he moved to Caykur Rizespor, his transfer value had quadrupled. 

His debut in the Super League also turned out to be successful: at the moment, the midfielder is the third top scorer of the team. A successful start in the new league led to his transfer sum increasing by 1.5 times, reaching its peak.

Currently, Transfermarkt values Olawoyin at €1.2 million. Thus, the Nigerian ranks ninth in the rating of the most expensive players of the Turkish team and shares this spot with Uzbek defender Khusniddin Alikulov.

National Team 

Ibrahim Olawoyin debuted for the Nigerian national team in 2019, but later he wasn’t anomg the regularly called up for the international duty players. He was part of the team’s squad in 2021, but hasn’t played a competitive game and wasn’t called up since then. 

Football and Financial Prospects 

In the 2023/2024 season, Ibrahim Olawoyin remains a main player for the Turkish team. The midfielder missed only two games: in December due to an accumulation of yellow cards, and in January due to a minor injury. Moreover, the Nigerian has already made several key goal involvements. If the Nigerian footballer maintains his high performance, there is a chance not only to re-sign the agreement with Caykur Rizespor on more favorable terms but also to attract the attention of stronger European clubs.
