Super Eagles goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali has suggested that he could be on the move this summer, with interest from several clubs abroad, as per Soccernet.NG.
Nwabali, who currently plays for Chippa United, has seen his stock rise significantly since his standout performances for Nigeria earlier this year.
The 27-year-old goalkeeper was instrumental in Nigeria’s run to the final, registering four clean sheets in seven appearances and making crucial penalty saves in the quarterfinals against South Africa. His club performances have been equally impressive, with Nwabali keeping eleven clean sheets in 26 Premier League matches for Chippa United.
Nwabali has attracted attention from Saudi Pro League club Al Ettifaq, English Championship side QPR, and South African giants Kaizer Chiefs. With the South African season concluding with Chippa United’s 2-0 defeat to Orlando Pirates, Nwabali dropped a significant hint about his future plans.
“Well, everyone would love to leave because when you are in some position, you need to grow,” Nwabali said. “Like everyone in my position would like to grow more. I’m talking about clubs higher than this [bigger than Chippa United] because I have been giving my all to my club this season. I just wish to have another challenge at some other place.”
As he looks ahead to potential new opportunities, Nwabali’s immediate focus will be on the upcoming World Cup qualifiers with the Super Eagles against Benin and South Africa. However, a transfer deal is expected to be a priority, allowing him to settle his future and take on new challenges in his career.
