FC Luzern is actively seeking a replacement for their departing playmaker Max Meyer, and Nigerian midfielder Kelechi Nwakali has emerged as a prime candidate, 4-4-2.com reports.
The 25-year-old, currently with GD Chaves in Portugal, is on the radar of Luzern’s sports director Remo Meyer.
Nwakali, who has previously been linked to FC Zurich, could finally make his move to Switzerland. His contract with Chaves, which runs until 2025, could see him transferred for around €500,000, although this figure might be negotiable.
Known for his long passes and dribbling skills, Nwakali’s style of play aligns well with Luzern’s needs. Despite Chaves’ relegation from the Portuguese top league, Nwakali’s talents have caught the attention of other Swiss clubs, including Grasshopper Club Zurich and FC Lausanne-Sport.
FC Luzern is determined to fill the void left by Meyer’s departure, and securing Nwakali could be a significant step in maintaining their competitive edge in the upcoming season.
