Super Eagles forward Sadiq Umar is drawing significant interest from top European clubs amid struggles at Real Sociedad, Soccernet.NG reports.
Despite joining the Spanish club from Almeria in the summer of 2022, Sadiq has found it challenging to make a substantial impact, netting only four goals in 39 appearances.
Sadiq’s time at Real Sociedad has been marred by setbacks, including a severe Achilles tendon injury that sidelined him for approximately seven months last season. This injury limited the 27-year-old Nigerian international to just 15 starts out of 53 potential matches across all competitions.
In light of his difficulties, Sadiq is now being eyed by two Spanish clubs, Valencia and Sevilla, as well as Italian side Bologna, all of whom are interested in securing the forward on loan. While no official statements have been made by either Real Sociedad or Nigeria’s camp, it is evident that Sadiq is under pressure at his current club and may be seeking more consistent playing time elsewhere.
The interest from these clubs offers a potential lifeline for Sadiq as he looks to revive his career and regain form. The coming weeks will likely see further developments as negotiations progress and the forward evaluates his options for the next season.
