Boavista FC has welcomed its first new signing for the upcoming season with the acquisition of Ibrahim Alhassan, who has inked a two-year contract valid until the end of the 2025/2026 season.
The 27-year-old defensive midfielder expressed his enthusiasm about joining the club, highlighting his familiarity with Portuguese football and the club’s storied history.
The player looks forward to the new challenge and integrating with his teammates.
“I’m quite happy. Signing for Boavista was an easy decision, firstly because I knew the greatness of the club and secondly because I already played in Portugal, which I consider to be my second home,” Alhassan told to the clubs’s official website.
Alhassan brings a wealth of experience from his time at Beerschot VA, where he played 43 games and helped the club win the II League last season. Describing himself as a hardworking and aggressive player, he mentioned his versatility in playing both as a defensive midfielder and central defender.
Having previously played for CD Nacional in Portugal, Alhassan fondly recalls the atmosphere at Estádio do Bessa and is eager to experience it from the home side. He values the strong connection with the fans and is committed to giving his all on the field.
With three caps for Nigeria’s national team and experience in several clubs abroad, including FK Austria Wien, Alhassan feels honored to join Boavista. He emphasized his readiness to start working and his ambition to leave a significant mark at the historic club.
