The English giants have decided to step back from their pursuit of Atlético Madrid’s young Nigerian-Spanish striker, Samu Omorodion, following repeated rejections from the spaniards, as per Marca.
Chelsea have set their sights on Omorodion, seeing his physical prowess, adaptability to English football, and youth as valuable assets for their future front line. Despite an offer of €33 million plus seven in achievable add-ons, Atlético remained firm in their decision not to sell, considering Omorodion a key player for their future.
Atlético Madrid, who signed Omorodion last season for €6 million and loaned him to Alavés, where he has shown significant growth, are determined to keep the young international. With Omorodion now part of Spain’s Olympic team and the U21 squad, Atlético sees him as a vital asset. According to Transfermarkt the player’s current value estimates at €35 million.
In light of this, Chelsea is redirecting their focus to more experienced forwards, Jonathan David from Lille and Karim Adeyemi from Borussia Dortmund. The potential additions would strengthen Chelsea’s attacking options, especially as they consider loaning Marc Guiu to Sevilla.
