Promising young defender Daniel Bameyi is on the verge of joining Nigerian Premier League club Bayelsa United, a move that would see him reconnect with his former mentor, Ladan Bosso, Soccernet.NG reports.
Bameyi, who previously caught the attention of ex-Super Eagles coach Jose Peseiro, is currently in discussions to finalize the transfer.
The 18-year-old, who captained Nigeria’s U-20 team to a third-place finish in the 2023 Africa U-20 Cup of Nations under Bosso’s guidance, is reportedly training with Bayelsa United.
However, the deal has yet to be officially confirmed, with Bayelsa United’s media officer Hananeel Jackson stating that the final details are still being worked out.
Bameyi, known for his versatility in defense, is expected to strengthen Bayelsa United as they prepare for the upcoming Nigeria Premier Football League season.
