In an exclusive interview with Kick Off Nigeria, Nigerian striker Kanu Stanley boldly declared his readiness to make a significant impact in the Czech Republic league after joining FC Zlín. The forward described the move as a fresh challenge that aligns perfectly with his ambitions and playing style.
Kanu Stanley, now the third Nigerian to represent the Czech Republic National Football League club, shared his excitement about the new chapter in his career.
“I love new challenges, and I think that’s the mentality every professional footballer needs to thrive in any league he finds himself,” Kanu said.
The Nigerian-born striker began his professional journey with Clube Caçadores das Taipas in Portugal, where his standout performances earned him a contract with Portuguese giants, FC Marítimo. He made his professional debut for Marítimo’s senior side in a 1–1 Primeira Liga draw against Rio Ave on December 23, 2022.
Reflecting on his decision to join FC Zlín, Kanu emphasized his eagerness to test himself in a new environment.
“I’ve heard a lot about the Czech Republic league’s style, and it matches my qualities. I cannot wait to announce my arrival in the league,” he said enthusiastically.
The forward, who has played across three divisions in the Portuguese league, explained that seeking a new experience was a driving factor behind his move.
“I’ve always wanted to experience what it’s like in another league. Having played in three different divisions of the Portuguese league, I decided to ink a deal with FC Zlín to take on this fresh challenge.”
In his 99 league appearances with Marítimo B, the striker netted 32 goals, solidifying his reputation as a clinical finisher. Now, Kanu is determined to bring that same energy to his new club and help them achieve their goals in the Czech Republic league.
With his unveiling now complete, Kanu Stanley is focused on making an immediate impact, showcasing his talent, and proving why FC Zlín brought him into their ranks.
