Nigerian prodigy Philip Ejike in an exclusive interview with Kick Off Nigeria has expressed his delight after completing a move to Belgian club K.A.S. Eupen from Bulgarian second-division side FC Montana.
Valued at €250,000 according to Transfermarkt, the towering forward is regarded as one of Nigeria’s most consistent players. Ejike stood out as FC Montana’s best player last season, registering double-digit goals and two assists to his name.
After successfully undergoing K.A.S. Eupen’s routine medicals, the Nigerian signed a six-month deal with the club, with an option for a two-year extension based on his progress.
With everything finalized, the promising striker was unveiled earlier today by his new employers. The Nigerian forward is expected to be a significant addition to the ‘Panda Family’ as they continue their quest to maintain their status in the league.
In an exclusive interview with Nigerian journalist Nwosu Chigozie for Kick Off Nigeria, the 22-year-old confidently stated his belief that he will succeed with the club in the Belgian First Division B.
“It’s a great feeling starting another phase of my career with a club like K.A.S. Eupen. This is a big step for my career,” he said. “Other clubs showed interest, but my former club kept everything under wraps until they revealed I would be heading to Belgium to join K.A.S. Eupen.”
“This club is the much-needed stepping stone for my career, and I’m prepared to make this opportunity count. I’m excited to be here, and I’m confident I will succeed here in Belgium. I’m here to achieve a lot, and I will back this up with hard work,” he concluded.
The Kano State-born forward started his football career at the Nigerian-based Mavlon Academy before moving to Bulgarian club FC Montana in 2022. He lit up the league with his goal-scoring prowess, finishing as the club’s top scorer in the 2022/2023 season.
