The Nigerian winger, who has completed a six-month loan move to Kazakhstani club Ordabasy Shymkent has exclusively explained his choice of club to Kick Off Nigeria.
Saliman Kayode moved to Kazakhstan on loan with a buy-out option from Slovak side Železiarne Podbrezová. After undergoing routine medical checks and finalizing all necessary paperwork, Kayode was officially unveiled by Ordabasy to announce his signing.
In a chat with Kick Off Nigeria following his unveiling, a delighted Saliman expressed confidence in reviving his career with FC Ordabasy. He also shared his reasons for choosing the Kazakhstan-based club.
“This loan move was necessary for me and my career. I needed a team where I could get regular playing time, so I spoke with my agent, and he reached an agreement with the club for the transfer. I had other options — several clubs showed interest — but I chose to play in Kazakhstan because it’s a Muslim country. I believe it suits me both as a player and in terms of my faith.”, said Kayode to Kick Off Nigeria.
“I joined FC Ordabasy because I want to play week in, week out, rather than sit on the bench. My goal is to prove my worth again. I believe in my ability, and I have what it takes to relaunch my career in Europe. I hope to create great memories with the team and achieve success in the Kazakhstan League.”, added the winger.
The 22-year-old Nigerian had his breakthrough with Bosnian club FK Zvijezda 09 in 2023. His impressive performances caught the attention of several clubs before he joined Slovak side Železiarne Podbrezová in 2024.
