Nigerian midfield prodigy Anthony Junior Dennis could be on his way out of Turkish Super League side Göztepe following growing interest from Bundesliga outfit Stuttgart and English Championship side Leeds United, Kick Off Nigeria has exclusively learned.
Dennis, whose versatility allows him to operate both as a deep-lying central midfielder and a box-to-box midfielder, has been excellent for Göztepe this season and is expected to make a high-profile move in the summer transfer window.
The 20-year-old’s contract with the Turkish side runs until 2027, having joined them in July 2023 and signing an extension in May last year. Göztepe reportedly values a potential summer sale at around €5 million.
In an exclusive interview with Kick Off Nigeria, sources at Elite Project Group, which handles the player’s business and management, confirmed contact from Stuttgart and Leeds regarding Dennis.
“He (Dennis) is performing at a top level this season, so it’s no surprise that Stuttgart and Leeds are interested. Both clubs have made inquiries this week about a possible move. Stuttgart have shown greater interest so far, but Göztepe are reluctant to make a decision as they expect offers from elsewhere before considering the best deal. At this point, their valuation is in the region of €5 million,” the source exclusively told Kick Off Nigeria.
Dubbed the new “Baleba” and seen as Wilfred Ndidi’s long-term successor for the Super Eagles, Dennis has played 23 matches for Göztepe this season, contributing two assists. Last season, he made 15 appearances, scoring once. His passing range, defensive ability, and attacking contributions have been standout attributes.
Notably, at the international level, Dennis received his first senior team call-up this month ahead of Nigeria’s World Cup qualification matches against Rwanda and Zimbabwe, scheduled for March 21 and 25, respectively.
