Nigerian youngster Michael Idoko earlier has signed a new three-year contract extension with Israeli Premier League side Hapoel Jerusalem F.C., keeping him at the club until 2028.
After committing his future to the club, the 19-year-old striker expressed his desire to follow in the footsteps of William Agada—a fellow Nigerian who became a cult hero at Hapoel Jerusalem.
Speaking exclusively to Kick Off Nigeria after signing the deal, Idoko shared his ambitions and appreciation for the support he has received.
“I’m delighted to have extended my contract with Hapoel Jerusalem F.C. because it’s a place I call home.
In my first year with the club, they gave me all the support I needed and pushed me to become the player I am today.
When I first joined, I heard a lot about a Nigerian striker who played here—William Agada—how much he was loved, and how he contributed to the club’s success.
The love the club and fans had for Agada was extended to me as a fellow Nigerian. I can’t let them down. I want to follow in his footsteps and leave my own mark here at Hapoel Jerusalem.”
He added that Agada set a high standard for Nigerian players at the club, and he hopes to match or surpass that legacy.
