Highly rated Nigerian midfielder Favour Aroyameh has officially signed with Major League Soccer (MLS) side FC Dallas, joining from Inter Lagos in Nigeria. Following the successful completion of his medicals, the 18-year-old was unveiled by the American club and has now opened up about the challenging journey that led to this career-defining move.
In an exclusive interview with Kick Off Nigeria, Aroyameh shared the motivation behind his decision to join FC Dallas, the hurdles he overcame, and his hopes for the future.
“A Dream Come True” – Aroyameh on Signing First Professional Deal Abroad
The box-to-box midfielder emphasized the emotional weight of the move, describing it as both a personal and professional milestone.
“A dream come through, I’m delighted to have signed my first professional contract abroad,” said Aroyameh shortly after his unveiling. “Coming here was an uphill task, from visa-related issues to my experience getting the visa via another country—it wasn’t an easy one.”
Why FC Dallas? A Rich History and a Stepping Stone
Despite having other opportunities on the table, Aroyameh explained that FC Dallas stood out due to the club’s pedigree and potential for growth.
“Yes, I had tons of offers, but my coming here was easy. I googled the club, and the club’s rich history played a huge part in signing for FC Dallas,” he said. “Signing for FC Dallas from Nigerian club Inter Lagos is a big motivation for me. I look at my new club as a stepping stone, and I will give it my best shot.”
Aroyameh added that he intends to make the most of his three-year stint, with hopes of creating exciting memories in the MLS.
“Here the real work starts, and I look forward to create exciting memories in my 3 years with the club.”
A Farewell Honour from Inter Lagos
Aroyameh’s departure has been marked by a touching gesture from his former club, Inter Lagos, where he served as team captain. In recognition of his contributions, the club officially retired his number 14 jersey—a rare move that reflects his importance and lasting legacy at the club.
With a bright future ahead and a grounded mindset, Favour Aroyameh now begins his journey in the United States, hoping to use FC Dallas as a springboard to even greater heights in global football.
