Samuel Chukwueze is set to return to AC Milan after Fulham FC opted against signing the Nigerian winger on a permanent basis following his loan spell in the Premier League.
The 27-year-old contributed three goals and four assists in 25 appearances for Fulham during the 2025-26 campaign, but the London club reportedly decided not to meet Milan’s valuation.
Chukwueze now faces an uncertain summer, with reports suggesting interest from clubs in Spain, where he previously enjoyed the most successful period of his career with Villarreal CF.
The winger joined Milan in 2023 in a deal worth around €20 million but has struggled to secure a regular starting role at San Siro. However, potential departures within the squad, including speculation surrounding Rafael Leão, could create fresh opportunities for Chukwueze under the club’s rebuilding project.
Footy-Africa reports that Milan still value the Nigeria international highly and are not actively looking to sell. The Serie A giants are believed to view him as part of their long-term plans unless a suitable offer arrives.
Spanish clubs are understood to have made enquiries, encouraged by Chukwueze’s strong record in La Liga, where he developed into one of Villarreal’s key attacking players before moving to Italy.
For now, the Super Eagles star is enjoying his off-season break in Nigeria and remains under contract with Milan until 2028. With the transfer window still in its early stages, a return to Spain remains a possibility, but Milan’s stance suggests any move will depend on a club meeting their valuation.
