Nigeria defender Semi Ajayi says Hull City are focused on building their own Premier League success story after an encouraging start to the season.
The Tigers sit eighth with nine points from six matches following a 2-2 draw with Everton, with Ajayi playing an important role in their promising campaign.
Speaking exclusively to Footy-Africa, the Super Eagles centre-back described his goal against Manchester United as a special moment but stressed that winning remains his priority.
“It was a blessing to score my first goal back in the Premier League, especially against a massive team like Manchester United,” Ajayi said. “But it was more important that we got the three points.”
The defender also dismissed comparisons with Sunderland’s achievements last season, insisting Hull must concentrate on establishing their own identity.
“We’re not really focused on Sunderland. We’re focused on ourselves. It’s down to us to create our own history,” he added.
Hull now turn their attention to Fulham, with Ajayi expecting another demanding test as they look to maintain their momentum.
“Every single game is going to be tough this year. We’ll approach that game with a new game plan and try to get as many points as we can,” he said.
Despite their strong start, Ajayi believes Hull must remain focused and consistent if they are to enjoy a successful Premier League campaign.
