Sevilla FC will reportedly enter the race with Spanish powerhouse Barcelona to secure the talents of Nigerian midfielder Wilfred Ndidi from Leicester, according to Soccernet.NG.
Spanish media outlets have recently fueled speculations that both Sevilla, the reigning Europa League champions, and Barcelona, one of La Liga’s giants, are actively pursuing the signature of Leicester City’s star player.
Despite currently playing in the English Championship, Ndidi has attracted attention from top European clubs, including Bayern Munich and Liverpool. Barcelona, amidst financial challenges, is reportedly eyeing Ndidi as a potential free transfer when his contract with Leicester City concludes in 2024. According to Transfermarkt the current player’s market value is estimated at €18 million.
While Sevilla sees Ndidi as a potential key player in their starting lineup, the stumbling block remains the Nigerian midfielder’s Premier League salary. Reportedly the Ndidi’s annual salary in England is €4,460,000. If he leaves as a free agent, that will allow him to negotiate a raise if he ends up moving to Spain.
