Nigerian defender Abubakar Ghali could be on the move during the January 2025 transfer window, with clubs in England and Italy reportedly keen on securing his services, Africa Foot exclusively reports.
Ghali, 24, who currently plays for Slovan Liberec in the Czech First League, is attracting growing interest from European clubs.
Ghali, a product of Nigeria’s Mountain of Fire and Miracles Football Club (MFM FC), has steadily risen through the ranks since moving to the Czech Republic in 2019. Joining Slovan Liberec in 2021, he has become a key figure in the squad, earning the attention of European scouts thanks to his consistent performances.
According to Africa Foot, two English clubs—Coventry City from the Championship and Ipswich Town, currently in the Premier League—are monitoring Ghali closely. Meanwhile, Italian Serie A side AC Monza has also expressed interest in the versatile defender.
This season, Ghali has been a standout performer for Slovan Liberec, contributing two goals and three assists in 17 league appearances. His defensive prowess, combined with his attacking contributions, has made him a valuable asset, with Transfermarkt currently valuing him at €850,000.
Ghali has reportedly expressed his readiness to embrace a new challenge, while Slovan Liberec is open to considering offers for their star defender. A move to the Premier League or Serie A could mark a significant step forward in his career, offering him the opportunity to compete at a higher level.
