Nigerian striker Abubakar Lawal is preparing to move from Ugandan side Vipers SC to Egyptian Premier League club Pyramids FC in January 2025, as per The Nerve Africa.
While Lawal has yet to make his debut for the Nigerian national team, the Super Eagles, he has previously represented the country at the U18, U20, and U23 levels.
This transfer comes ahead of the expiration of his current contract, which was originally due to end in June 2025, sources have revealed.The 29-year-old striker is set to sign a two-and-a-half-year contract with Pyramids FC, securing his stay in Egypt until at least 2027.
Lawal, who can play both as a striker and an attacking midfielder, joined Vipers SC two seasons ago. During his time in Uganda, he featured in 42 matches, playing both in the Uganda Premier League and the CAF Champions League. One of his standout moments came during the 2022/23 season when he scored Vipers’ first-ever goal in the group stages of the prestigious continental competition.
Before his stint with Vipers SC, Lawal had a successful period with Rwandan club AS Kigali, scoring 13 goals in just 16 appearances. The Nigerian also played for Nasarawa United and Wikki Tourists FC in his home country.
