Nigerian forward Ademola Lookman could be on the verge of leaving Serie A club Atalanta BC during upcoming transfer window, with top European teams like Arsenal and PSG reportedly interested in securing his signature.
Recent reports suggest that Arsenal values the in-form forward at €60 million and may make a bid as early as the January transfer window. However, Nigerian football legend Augustine Eguavoen believes that Lookman’s market value far exceeds the reported figure.
“Given the crazy market, especially for forwards, Lookman should be valued much higher than €60 million,” said Eguavoen, who has worked with Lookman during his time as head coach of the Nigerian national team, in an exclusive interview with Kick Off Nigeria.
“I’ve worked with him, and he’s an incredible talent. His form with Atalanta is on par with some of the best players in Europe at the moment. Anything less than €80 million would be an undervaluation, and that’s not even an exaggeration,” the 59-year-old added.
Atalanta BC has been in outstanding form this season, currently sitting first in the Serie A table. Lookman, 27, has been pivotal to their success, scoring 11 goals and providing five assists in 18 appearances across all competitions. This includes three goals in the UEFA Champions League, with one of his most notable strikes coming against defending champions Real Madrid.

With Atalanta reportedly reluctant to let their star player leave on the cheap, Eguavoen’s assessment may play into the club’s strategy to maximize the Nigerian attacker’s value in the market.
