Nigerian striker Akor Adams will remain at Spanish La Liga side Sevilla despite a challenging first six months at the club, as per Footy-Africa.
The 25-year-old joined Sevilla in January but has managed just four appearances, totaling 127 minutes and scoring once, due largely to injury setbacks. Despite limited game time and on-field struggles, the Andalusian club has decided against offloading him in the summer transfer window.
A source at Aneke Player Management Group, which represents Adams, confirmed the club’s decision, emphasizing Sevilla’s faith in the former Montpellier striker.
“They [Sevilla] have informed us that the player will stay, in case there were any doubts about his future at the club. The assurance is that there is no chance he will leave—neither on loan nor permanently—and that’s now decided,” the source told Footy-Africa. “The belief is that his struggles were due to injury setbacks, and with a full pre-season, they are confident he will deliver.”
With Sevilla operating under financial constraints, the club is not expected to bring in a high-profile striker this summer, increasing their reliance on Adams for the 2025/26 campaign.
Adams moved to Sevilla after a productive spell at Montpellier in Ligue 1, where he scored 13 goals and contributed three assists in 49 matches. In his final season in France, he recorded three goals and one assist in 16 appearances.

The Nigerian previously enjoyed a prolific run in Norway with Lillestrøm SK, netting 28 goals and supplying six assists in 50 games. He also had an earlier stint with Sogndal.
Now fit and with a full pre-season ahead, Adams will be hoping to repay Sevilla’s trust with goals and performances as he looks to reignite his La Liga journey.
