Super Eagles defender Bruno Onyemaechi has completed his long-awaited move to Greek top-flight giants Olympiacos FC from Portuguese club Boavista FC.
The 25-year-old Nigerian defender’s transfer to Olympiacos FC puts an end to months of rumors and speculation, with the player having previously been tracked by Portuguese giants FC Porto and Turkish club Trabzonspor.
In an exclusive interview with Kick Off Nigeria, Bruno’s Portuguese agent Tiago Calisto of TGC Sports Management expressed his delight at seeing the deal finalized after a prolonged period of negotiations.
“We’ve been expecting this move for the last three transfer windows, but due to Boavista’s situation, the club kept blocking his way out. Now, we’ve finally got a smile, and everything is okay,” Calisto said.
“He has joined a real club. He had three or four options, but he chose Olympiacos FC because the club showed they really wanted him. This is a big step for his career, and I believe he will achieve much more. I trust him.”
The 11-capped Nigerian international has been a key figure at Boavista since joining the Portuguese club in 2020. He has also remained a consistent presence in the Nigerian senior national team.
