English Football League Championship side Burnley FC have entered direct negotiations with Nigerian center-forward Daniel Udoh and his club, Wycombe Wanderers FC, over a possible summer transfer, Kick Off Nigeria has exclusively learned.
Burnley have been scouting the 28-year-old throughout the season at Wycombe in EFL League One, with the intention of securing his signature. He joined Wycombe last summer from Shrewsbury Town FC on a three-year contract.
Burnley plan to secure an agreement mid-season, signing a deal in principle while allowing him to finish the campaign at Wycombe before moving to Turf Moor in June. Wycombe, meanwhile, intend to keep relying on him as they push for promotion to the EFL Championship.
A source from his management agency has confirmed the developments, revealing that Burnley intend to submit an offer in the region of £850,000 (just over €1 million) to Wycombe Wanderers.
“We are in direct contact with Burnley as well as Wycombe regarding a deal for Daniel (Udoh). Wycombe have been receptive but remain cautious about potential distractions, as they believe he is focused on helping them secure promotion. Burnley are serious and are preparing an initial offer of £850,000, which is tempting for Wycombe. It’s too early to make a final call, but all parties are in contact,” the source exclusively told Kick Off Nigeria.
This season, Udoh—who possesses the versatility to play across multiple attacking positions—has scored eight goals and provided three assists in 38 games across all competitions for Wycombe. He spent five years at Shrewsbury Town, where he made 181 appearances, scoring 41 goals and recording 18 assists.
Udoh has spent his entire career playing for clubs in England, having previously featured for lower-league sides AFC Telford United, Crewe Alexandra, Solihull Moors FC, Leamington FC, Chester FC, Ilkeston Town FC, and Worcester FC.
Although he has yet to feature for Nigeria’s senior national team, the Super Eagles, he has received three call-ups between 2023 and 2024. Earlier in his career, he represented Nigeria at youth level, playing for both the Under-17 and Under-20 teams.
