London-based Premier League clubs are reportedly eyeing a move for Nigerian striker Samuel Omorodion, following his standout performances during a loan spell at Deportivo Alavés in the recently concluded La Liga season, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.
According to several reports from media outlets, Chelsea, the six-time English champions, are exploring a deal for the forward, who is currently owned by Atletico Madrid. Omorodion, born in Spain and a youth international for the country, emerged as one of the breakout stars in La Liga this season.
The 20-year-old netted eight goals and provided one assist, finishing as Alavés’ top scorer and helping them secure a 10th place finish. His remarkable campaign included scoring twice against Barcelona, with one of those goals earning the La Liga EA Sports Best Play Award for February.
The striker’s performances have caught the attention of several top clubs, and he is also a contender for the prestigious 2024 Golden Boy Award, alongside notable talents like Chelsea midfielder Lesley Ugochukwu, Italian-Nigerian fullback Michael Kayode, and Lagos-born striker George Ilenikhena.
Atletico Madrid, who signed Omorodion just a year ago, are reportedly open to selling him and have set a €60 million price tag on the young forward. This transfer window is set to see intense competition as Chelsea and West Ham vie for the signature of one of Europe’s most promising young talents.
