Nigerian midfielder Tom Dele-Bashiru has reached an agreement with English Championship side Watford to extend his stay at Vicarage Road by one more year, Kick Off Nigeria has exclusively learned.
Dele-Bashiru, who joined Watford during the 2019/2020 season, initially signed a three-year contract with an option for a one-year extension. With the current season approaching its end, the club has decided to trigger that extension, keeping him at the club until the end of the 2025/2026 campaign.
Confirmation from Player’s Representatives
In an exclusive interview with Kick Off Nigeria, Kingdom Sports Management, the agency representing Dele-Bashiru, confirmed the development.
“Tom (Dele-Bashiru) will stay at Watford beyond this season—we’ve been officially notified. The club has decided to trigger the option in his contract for one more year. It’s good news, as it shows they still believe he can play a key role in their push for promotion to the Premier League,” a source close to the agency said.
Dele-Bashiru’s Season and Career Stats
The versatile midfielder, currently valued at €1.2 million by Transfermarkt, has made 24 appearances this season across the Championship and EFL Cup, scoring four goals.
Since his arrival in 2019, he has featured in 112 matches for Watford and has scored 11 goals in all competitions.
International Outlook
Dele-Bashiru is the younger brother of Lazio defender Fisayo Dele-Bashiru. While Tom has yet to earn a senior cap for Nigeria, he has represented the country at youth levels, including for the U20 and U23 national teams.
With his future now secure at Watford for another season, Dele-Bashiru will be looking to continue his developmentand play a pivotal role in the club’s promotion ambitions.
