Former Nigerian national team defender Brian Idowu, renowned for his stints with Russian Premier League clubs Amkar, Lokomotiv and Khimki, joined a Russian Media League club, Sport.24 reports.
Hailing from St. Petersburg, with dual citizenship of Russia and Nigeria, Idowu has inked a deal with the media football club FC 10, as confirmed by Bogdan Timoshenko, the defender of the 2DROTS team, who broke the news on social media.
Idowu’s illustrious career includes representing Nigeria in the FIFA World Cup 2018, where he played 3 matches. Throughout his career he earned 10 caps for the Super Eagles, netting one goal.
During his tenure with Lokomotiv, the seasoned defender clinched both the Russian Cup and Super Cup, adding to his accolades two silver medals in the Russian Premier League.
Following his departure from Khimki in the summer of 2023, the 31-year-old defender struggled to sign a new contract and endured a brief hiatus from professional football.
