Turkish club Trabzonspor are on the verge of sealing a permanent move for Nigerian international Paul Onuachu, with negotiations advancing rapidly between the Süper Lig outfit and Southampton, as per Footy-Africa.
The 31-year-old forward, who spent last season on loan at Trabzonspor, left a lasting impression by netting 17 goals and supplying four assists in 25 appearances. His successful loan spell has made him a priority signing for the Black Sea club, and a three-year contract is reportedly on the table pending final agreements with Southampton.
A source close to CMG Sports, the agency representing Onuachu, revealed that discussions were reinitiated weeks ago but gained serious traction only recently. “Several clubs were keen on Paul, but he’s now committed to returning to Trabzonspor. The final hurdle is between the two clubs,” the source confirmed.

Onuachu joined Southampton in 2023 following a prolific stint at Belgian side Genk, where he scored 85 goals in 135 matches. However, he struggled to replicate that form in England, managing just four goals in 40 appearances for the Saints.
With his current deal at Southampton set to expire next summer, the move to Turkey offers Onuachu a fresh start at a club where he already feels at home. The Nigerian forward has also earned 24 caps for the Super Eagles, scoring three goals for his national team.
