In an exclusive interview with Kick Off Nigeria, Nigerian defender Christopher Nwaeze shared insights into his loan move to FC Milsami Orhei and his aspirations after winning the Moldovan top-flight league with the club.
“I am excited about this new feat. This is my first silverware abroad, and I truly cherish it. I’m proud of what I’ve achieved so far in my career.”
Loan Move To FC Milsami Orhei
The rock-solid Nigerian defender revealed the reasons behind his loan switch from Ukrainian side FC Zorya Luhansk to Moldovan club FC Milsami Orhei.
“Quality playing time was the main reason I joined FC Milsami Orhei. I was loaned out to help the team, prove my worth, and gain valuable European football experience after joining Zorya from Nigerian side Kwara United.”
Future Uncertain, But Ready For New Challenges
Despite celebrating a league title in Moldova, Nwaeze remains unsure about his immediate future.
“I don’t know yet if I’ll return to FC Zorya Luhansk. That decision isn’t up to me right now — my agent will make the best decision in the coming weeks.”
On his experience in Moldova, the defender praised the level of competition and the warm reception from his current club:
“The Moldovan league is quite competitive — all the clubs are evenly matched, and only the strongest sides come out on top. I’ve really enjoyed my time at FC Milsami Orhei. They welcomed me warmly and gave me the confidence to play for the badge.”
From Kwara United To European League Champion
Born on November 16, 2002, the 22-year-old began his professional career with Nigerian top-flight club Kwara United, where he quickly made a name for himself.
After serving as captain at Kwara United, Nwaeze earned call-ups to Nigeria’s Under-20 and Under-23 national teams, featuring in two and five games respectively. His talent made him one of the most sought-after defenders in the Nigerian league, attracting interest from several top clubs.
Following his time at Kwara United, he went on to play for Akwa United and Plateau United before sealing a move to FC Zorya Luhansk in Ukraine.
