Nigerian striker Ede Oloko Joseph in an exclusive interview with Kick Off Nigeria has expressed his determination to continue his prolific goal-scoring form after completing a move to FK Liepaja from FS Jelgava.
Unarguably FS Jelgava’s best player last season, the tall Nigerian striker carved a niche for himself in the Latvian League, delivering an incredible goal-scoring streak. The 36 Lions graduate raised eyebrows with his performances, scoring 11 goals to finish as FS Jelgava’s top scorer.
Despite reported interest from several top European clubs, Oloko has opted to join FK Liepaja on a three-year deal, signaling his commitment to further establishing himself in the Latvian league.
Reflecting on his move, Oloko revealed his ambitions for FK Liepaja:
“I’m happy to have signed with FK Liepaja, one of the best teams in the Latvian league. This is one of the reasons I’m here today—to help take the club to the next level,” he said.“Goals are what define a striker. I’m here to continue scoring goals in the league, and that’s one of the main reasons FK Liepaja signed me,” he added.
Oloko also expressed gratitude to his former club and fans.
“Special thanks to Jelgava fans, coaches, and management for their love and support during my time there. It’s a familiar terrain, so sustaining my goal-scoring form from Jelgava should be easy. I aim to pick up where I left off, but this time in the colors of FK Liepaja,” he said.
“Joining FK Liepaja is a step up in my career, and I look forward to contributing my quota to the team’s success story,” he concluded, visibly delighted.
The 24-year-old Nigerian striker has previously played for AS Cotonou, FC Slavia Karlovy Vary, and FC SILON Taborsko, further honing his craft before making a name for himself in Latvia.
