Swedish side IFK Värnamo have confirmed receiving multiple bids for Nigerian striker Johnbosco Kalu, with serious foreign interest building ahead of the summer transfer window. The news was first reported by Fotbollskanalen, who revealed that offers from abroad have already been submitted.
Kalu, 21, was a standout performer last season, scoring seven goals to help Värnamo retain their Allsvenskan status via the relegation playoffs. This season, despite the club’s struggles at the bottom of the table, he has managed two goals in ten league appearances and remains one of the team’s brightest prospects.
One of the interested clubs is believed to be Beitar Jerusalem from Israel, although Värnamo’s sporting director Jörgen Petersson would not name specific suitors. Still, he confirmed that concrete interest has been received.
“We have received serious requests from a couple of clubs, and things have progressed beyond just interest. But nothing is final until it’s signed,” Petersson told Fotbollskanalen.
Kalu is expected to play in Värnamo’s final match of the spring season against Mjällby on Sunday, but his future could lie outside Sweden, with clubs lining up for his signature.
