Czech Republic First League club FK Pardubice has announced the signing of Nigerian striker Abdullahi Tanko from Banik Ostrava, another Czech Republic-based club. The striker exclusively talked to Kick Off Nigeria about his aspirations with the news team.
The 26-year-old Nigerian striker had been linked to several clubs before the reopening of the transfer window, following his struggles to break into the Banik Ostrava first team and his prolonged goal drought.
Earlier today, Tanko signed a deal with FK Pardubice for an undisclosed fee. He is set to join the rest of the squad ahead of the league’s second-round resumption, having been officially unveiled today.
Speaking with Kick Off Nigeria reporter Nwosu Chigozie, a visibly elated Tanko expressed his delight at completing the move to FK Pardubice and his hope of rediscovering his goal-scoring form.
“I’m delighted to have completed this move to FK Pardubice after so much back and forth during the transfer process,” said Tanko.
“I hope to achieve great things with the club and help the team meet their season’s targets. I know regaining my goal-scoring form will play a big role in the team’s success.”
“I chose FK Pardubice because I’ve learned a lot about the Czech Republic top-flight league while playing for Banik Ostrava. My adaptation will be a quick one since I’ve already been in the league for a while.”
Known for his clinical goal-scoring prowess, Abdullahi Tanko began his football career in Nigeria before moving to FK Varnsdorf. From there, he signed for FC Banik Ostrava in 2023.
