Nigerian forward Ehije Ukaki has revealed that his transfer to Sheffield United came together at the very last moment, despite having multiple offers on the table, as per Footy-Africa.
Nigerian striker Ehije Ukaki has signed for English side Sheffield United from Bulgarian club Botev Plovdiv in a surprise transfer.
“Joining Sheffield United was a last-minute decision,” the 20-year-old told Footy-Africa after completing his move from Bulgarian side Botev Plovdiv. “I had offers from a Spanish club and other teams who showed interest since the January transfer window.”
Ukaki explained that the urgency of the closing transfer window—due to the upcoming Club World Cup—forced him and his agent to act quickly.
The striker, who signed a deal until 2027 with an option for two more years, is coming off an impressive season in Bulgaria, where he netted six goals in 28 league matches and helped Botev Plovdiv win the Bulgarian Cup and qualify for the Europa League.
Ukaki becomes the second Nigerian to join Sheffield United from Botev Plovdiv, following Christian Nwachukwu—a growing trend led by agent Paul Ojo Omamomo, known for guiding Nigerian talents into Europe.
