French Ligue 1 side Nantes has officially tabled a substantial bid to Boavista for the acquisition of Super Eagles left-back Bruno Onyemaechi, according to allnigeriasoccer.com.
Nantes has proposed a €3.2 million in their pursuit of the Nigerian international, as reported by Portuguese sports daily O Jogo,. This move comes as Nantes aims to fill the void left by the departure of Quentin Merlin, who was sold to Marseille. The offer actually seems reasonable: Transfermarkt estimates the player’s current market value at €3 million.
The fate of Bruno Onyemaechi now lies in the hands of Boavista’s President, Vítor Murta, who holds the authority to either accept or reject Nantes’ bid.
While unnamed Turkish teams have also expressed interest in the 24-year-old left-back, Nantes is the sole club that has presented a concrete offer at this stage.
This isn’t the first time Onyemaechi has drawn attention from top European clubs. Last summer, he was linked with a move to Porto, but negotiations between the Portuguese giants and Boavista ultimately fell through.
Onyemaechi is currently on international duty with Nigeria, he has yet to see playing time in the ongoing AFCON 20204. Meanwhile, in this club season in Portugal, the talented left-back has featured in thirteen matches, contributing with one assist.
