The Magpies have announced the signing of 21-year-old striker William Osula from Sheffield United via their official website.
The financial details of the deal remain undisclosed, but the player’s current market value, according to Transfermarkt, stands at €3 million.
Osula, who is eligible to play for the Nigerian national team, made 21 Premier League appearances last season and has represented Denmark Under-21s on five occasions, scoring twice against Norway this summer.
Born in Copenhagen to a Danish mother and a Nigerian father, Osula began his youth career in Denmark before joining Sheffield United’s academy in 2018. He signed his first professional contract with the Blades in 2021 and spent the 2022-23 season on loan at Derby County.
His eligibility for the Super Eagles of Nigeria, as well as for England, makes him a player of significant interest. With his versatility to play as a striker or on the flanks, he adds depth and options to Eddie Howe’s squad ahead of the new season.
Expressing his excitement, Osula said:
“I’m very happy to be here. It’s a big club, a great club, so I’m very happy for the opportunity to join Newcastle United. As soon as I heard about Newcastle’s interest, I knew I had to take the chance to join this club. It has come, and I’m really happy to be here”.
