The 2025 edition of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations will commence this week in Morocco. Continental powerhouse Nigeria will hope to kickstart their campaign with a victory when they take on Tunisia in the opening game of Group B. Ahead of the July 6 clash, Ayomide Oguntimehin provides the lowdown.
Nigeria W vs Tunisia W Match Preview
The Super Falcons qualified for a 15th tournament after a 7-1 aggregate win over Cape Verde in the qualifying round. Nigeria have failed to win only three editions of the tournament since its inception, which includes a fourth-placed finish at the 2022 edition. They head into Morocco as heavy favorites to reclaim their crown, and should qualify as group winners having being drawn in a relatively easy group alongside Tunisia, Algeria and Botswana.
Tunisia, on the other hand, qualified for their third appearance via a qualifying round victory over Congo. They failed to get out of the group stage in their debut appearance in 2008, while they lost to eventual champions South Africa in the quarterfinals of the 2022 edition. The Carthage Eagles will hope to give a better account by securing qualification from Group B.
