24-year-old Nigerian defender Ebenezer Okezie has suffered his second rejection in the winter transfer window after his planned move to a Ukrainian club fell through, Kick Off Nigeria reports.
Following the expiration of his contract with Bulgarian club FC Arda Kardzhali in 2024, the diminutive, left-footed Nigerian defender has struggled to secure a deal despite interest from both European and Asian clubs.
During the January transfer window, Okezie saw his proposed move to a UAE club collapse at the last minute, despite both parties initially agreeing on a deal.
In a similar turn of events, the Nigerian defender moved to Ukrainian club FC Vorskla Poltava, completed his medicals, and even traveled with the team for pre-season. However, the deal was abruptly canceled following the arrival of a new head coach, who deemed Okezie surplus to his plans.
With a reported salary offer of around €10,500 at FC Vorskla Poltava now off the table, Okezie proceeded to trials with another Ukrainian club, Football Club Livyi Bereh Kyiv, but failed to secure a contract after failing to impress the club’s hierarchy, Kick Off Nigeria gathers.
Known for his blistering pace and ability to command the left flank, the 24-year-old Nigerian defender has previously played for Moldovan club Zimbru Chișinău, Armenian side FC Noah, and Bulgarian outfit FC Arda Kardzhali.
