Nottingham Forest defender Ola Aina has suggested that he is close to signing a new contract with the club, expressing his desire to remain with the Reds for the foreseeable future, as per interview with Sky Sports.
The Nigeria international’s current deal is set to expire in approximately four months, and while discussions are ongoing, no official agreement has been reached yet. According to Transfermarkt the player’s current value is estimated at €14 million.
In a recent interview with Sky Sports, Aina conveyed his enthusiasm for the club and its community, stating:
“I hope so. I really enjoy it here. I enjoy the staff, the players, the club, the community. Everything about it is a good place, so hopefully.”
Aina’s impressive versatility has made him a valuable asset to manager Nuno Espírito Santo, featuring regularly in various defensive roles. His consistent performances have not gone unnoticed, with rumors linking him to clubs like Manchester City and Galatasaray during the January transfer window.
Beyond his contract situation, Aina took the opportunity to commend teammate Chris Wood, who has been in exceptional form this season. The New Zealand striker has netted seventeen goals in twenty-four Premier League appearances, becoming a pivotal figure in Forest’s attack.
“Wood is the most chilled, normal guy you will come across. He doesn’t bother anyone, he doesn’t get in the way, goes by his business, can have a laugh as well, so he’s got a mixture of everything,” Aina remarked. “He is just Chris Wood; he’s in fantastic form, so good on him, he deserves it as well.”
