Despite growing media speculation about his future, Nigerian international goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali has made it clear he is not pushing for an exit from South African Premier Soccer League side Chippa United—at least not yet, Africa Foot reports.
Over the past week, multiple reports suggested that Chippa United had opened the door for Nwabali’s departure, with a move believed to be close. However, Africa Foot has learned that no official communication has been made to the player regarding a potential summer transfer.
In an exclusive interview, a source at David Moss Group—Nwabali’s representatives—dismissed the speculation and emphasized the player’s commitment to finishing the current campaign strongly.
“The reports are false. From our end, there hasn’t been a single movement or communication from Chippa. As for the future, we have no control over what may happen, but at the moment, the talk of Stan (Nwabali) moving is untrue. We’ll see what happens in the summer, but for now, he’s not in a rush—he’s only focused on finishing the season on a positive note,” the source told.
Nwabali, currently valued at €600,000 by Transfermarkt, will have two years remaining on his contract at the end of the season. He joined Chippa United from Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) side Katsina United in 2022.
Since then, the 28-year-old has established himself as one of the standout goalkeepers in the South African top flight. He was heavily linked with a move last summer following an impressive campaign with Nigeria at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Côte d’Ivoire, but instead opted to sign a contract extension.
On the international stage, Nwabali made his debut for the Nigerian senior national team, the Super Eagles, in 2021. He has since earned 19 competitive caps, most recently featuring in Nigeria’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Rwanda and Zimbabwe last month.
