Reports linking Joe Aribo with a summer move to RB Leipzig are wide of the mark, as no contact has been made between the Bundesliga side and Southampton, as per Footy-Africa.
Speculation suggested Leipzig was preparing a €10 million bid for the Nigerian international, but sources close to Aribo’s agency, Elite Project Group Limited, confirmed there have been no negotiations.
“We’ve seen the reports, but we’re not aware of any talks. Joe wants to play at the top level and would listen if Leipzig came in, but as of now, there’s nothing,” a representative told Footy-Africa.
Aribo, under contract at Southampton until June 2026, was a key figure last season despite the club’s relegation. He made 37 appearances and scored three goals across all competitions.
Since joining from Rangers in 2022, the 28-year-old has played 101 matches for the Saints. He has also earned 33 caps for Nigeria, with two goals and two assists, and holds a market value of €6 million according to Transfermarkt.
