The Swedish football club has announced the signing of Nigerian winger Prince Amos, beating out notable teams like Malmo and Djurgardens IF for his services, allnigeriasoccer reports.
The 18-year-old’s move to the Superettan side, effective for the 2024 season, includes an option for Norrby IF to make the transfer permanent from the Tripple 44 Football Academy in Nigeria.
This transfer has quashed widespread speculation linking Amos to giants Barcelona and Ajax Amsterdam, which Olatunji Okuku, the founder of Tripple 44 Football Academy, dismissed as mere rumors. Okuku highlighted the strategic importance of Amos’s development path, suggesting that guaranteed playing time at Norrby IF was a decisive factor in their decision.
Despite interest from Malmo, the 26-time Allsvenskan champions, and Djurgårdens IF, a move to Norrby IF offers Amos a clearer pathway to first-team football, avoiding the potential of being loaned out to a lower-tier club.
