Nigerian striker Ojetunde Olaoluwa has exclusively revealed to Kick Off Nigeria what influenced his decision to join Tajikistan club Ravshan Kulob.
The forward completed a move to Ravshan Kulob from Georgian club FC Telavi earlier this week for an undisclosed fee. Ojetunde signed a two-year contract with the Tajikistan giants, snubbing interest from Armenian and Romanian top-flight leagues.
“Ravshan Kulob is one of the top clubs in Tajikistan and competes in the Asian Champions League. This was the main reason I joined because playing in such a big competition will provide a greater opportunity for my career going forward“, – said the striker in an exclusive interview with Kick Off Nigeria.
“From my findings, the team hasn’t been meeting expectations in recent seasons, often finishing in second or third place. My arrival will allow me to compete with the team and help me regain my form, as last season was a bit difficult for me“.
“Ultimately, winning the league with the club is a top priority on my list of achievements. “I had offers from Armenian and Romanian clubs, but I turned them down because I feel I need to regain my form first before returning to European football. In the long term, I hope to make a name for myself in the Tajikistan League and represent my country well,” Olaoluwa concluded.
Born on November 6, 2002, Olaoluwa started his football career in Nigeria before moving abroad to sign his first professional contract with Armenian club FC Sevan in 2020. He later played for Lernayin Artsakh Goris and FC Van in 2022 and 2023, respectively.
