Portuguese club Rio Ave Futebol Clube, commonly known as Rio Ave, has missed out on signing highly rated Nigerian striker Alonge Ibrahim Olalekan from Nigerian-based club Central Academy, Abuja, as per Kick Off Nigeria sources.
The Portuguese club, which first scouted the player in Nigeria, lost out on the promising Nigerian prodigy as Hungarian side Ferencvárosi Torna Club hijacked the deal, securing him on a long-term contract.
The explosive Nigerian striker successfully completed his trial period with the Hungarian club, impressing the Ferencvárosi Torna Club hierarchy before signing his first professional contract.
The highly rated forward was part of Coach Aliyu Zubairu’s Nigeria Under-20 squad that went on to be crowned champions of the WAFU-B Championship in 2024.
