The South African club is expected to strenghtnen their squad with securing the signature of Nigerian international Sani Faisal at the end of the current season, as per Soccernet.NG.
Faisal, who currently plays as a left-back for Kano Pillars, has shown his versatility by also covering roles as a defensive midfielder and central defender.
According to several sources, the transfer is nearly finalized, and Faisal will join forces with Stanley Nwabali, the number one choice goalkeeper for the national team, who is already with Chippa United. This move will see Faisal continue a tradition of Nigerian players at Chippa United, which includes past names like Daniel Akpeyi and James Okwuosa.
Faisal, 27, has recently entered the international scene, making his debut for Nigeria’s Super Eagles in a match against Mexico in May 2022. He played as a defensive midfielder in that game and also featured against Ecuador shortly thereafter.
The end of the 2023/2024 season in Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL) will mark Faisal’s transition to the South African Premier Soccer League, enhancing Chippa United’s defensive capabilities for the upcoming campaign.
