Nigerian striker Silas Nwankwo‘s future at Swedish Allsvenskan side Mjällby AIF remains uncertain after a failed move to a Turkish club, as the deal collapsed at the last minute, as per Kick Off Nigeria sources.
Following the failed transfer, the 21-year-old Nigerian striker’s future at Mjällby AIF is in doubt, with the club reportedly willing to sell the talented forward.
The former Nigerian top-flight league top scorer has been out of action for the past 12 months, missing Mjällby AIF’s last 36 matches after suffering a cruciate ligament injury. Before his injury, the prolific Nigerian striker was a standout performer for Mjällby AIF, scoring nine goals in 42 appearances after joining the Swedish club from Nasarawa United in 2021.
Nwankwo began his professional football career with Nigerian-based club Sunshine Stars. His impressive goal-scoring form earned him a move to Nigerian top-flight league giants Nasarawa United in 2020, where he emerged as the league’s top scorer in the 2020/2021 season before securing a transfer to Mjällby AIF in 2021.
According to Transfermarkt, Nwankwo is currently valued at €200,000, though his market worth has dipped due to his long injury layoff. With Mjällby AIF open to offers, it remains to be seen whether the Nigerian forward can secure a move elsewhere before the transfer window closes.
