Italian Serie A side Lazio have formally opened talks with Czech club Viktoria Plzen over a potential transfer for Nigerian forward Rafiu Adekunle Durosinmi in the upcoming summer window, Kick Off Nigeria has exclusively learned.
This marks Lazio’s second attempt to sign the 22-year-old, following their initial approach in last summer’s transfer window. At that time, a move to Stadio Olimpico was close to completion before negotiations collapsed in the final stages.
Lazio Reignite Interest with Four-Year Offer
In an exclusive interview with Kick Off Nigeria, a source from MMELL Sports Company, the agency representing Durosinmi, confirmed that Lazio have renewed their pursuit, with a four-year contract on the table. Viktoria Plzen, meanwhile, are reportedly demanding a €4 million transfer fee.
Durosinmi’s contract with Viktoria Plzen runs until the summer of 2026, and the Czech club have no intention of letting him leave the Doosan Arena for free. However, they are open to selling him at the right price when the transfer window opens in June.
“Viktoria Plzen and Lazio have initiated contact regarding Durosinmi, with plans to finalize the transfer before the Serie A season concludes. Lazio want to accelerate negotiations and present their terms to the player quickly, aiming to fend off competition from other suitors early,” the source exclusively told Kick Off Nigeria.
Durosinmi’s Performance and Potential Suitors
This season, Durosinmi has made 10 appearances across the Czech First Division, UEFA Europa League, and Czech Cup, registering five goals and one assist. Since the 2022-2023 season, he has featured in 44 games, scoring 19 goalsand providing six assists.
While Lazio are pushing to secure the Nigerian forward, they could face stiff competition, with Bundesliga side Wolfsburg, as well as English clubs Wolverhampton Wanderers and Leicester City, also showing interest.
With the summer transfer window approaching, Durosinmi’s future remains uncertain, but Lazio appear determined to finally bring him to Serie A.
