The Turkish club, struggling with a lack of goals this season, is preparing to re-enter negotiations with Southampton for their former player, Paul Onuachu, as per Sabah.
Despite a previous offer of €7 million, including €2 million in bonuses, being rejected, the Turkish club is determined to make another attempt to secure the Nigerian striker. According to Transfermarkt the player’s current value estimates at €13 million.

The team’s head coach, Abdullah Avcı, has highlighted the absence of a pivot striker as a key issue contributing to their recent scoring difficulties. Following disappointing results, including a 1-0 loss to Rapid Wien in the Europa League and a goalless draw against Sivasspor in the Turkish Super Lig, Avcı is keen on reinforcing his attacking options.
Trabzonspor’s pursuit of Weghorst from Burnley did not materialize, prompting the club to revisit the Onuachu deal. Southampton, which does not see Onuachu as part of their future plans, is expected to be more open to discussions this time, increasing the chances of a successful transfer.
Meanwhile, Avcı has faced criticism from fans due to the team’s underwhelming performance in the first four official matches of the season, despite ten new signings. He has asked for more time to address the issues and believes that the team will improve by September.
