West Ham United are ready to break their transfer record to sign Super Eagles striker Victor Boniface, who has also been linked with Chelsea and Newcastle United, as Soccernet.NG reports.
The Hammers’ technical director Tim Steidten is pushing massively to bring the red-hot Bayer Leverkusen forward to the London Stadium this month.
West Ham United have reportedly lost faith in Michail Antonio and Danny Ings who are their current first-team strikers at the moment and are pushing for a replacement.
West Ham’s record signing is Ivorian striker Sébastien Haller whom they bought for €50 million and it is being claimed that they are ready to break that figure for the signing of Boniface. According to Transfermarkt the player’s current value estimates at €40 million. It is quite obvious that Leverkusen won’t settle for less.
The Nigeria international has been one of Bayer Leverkusen’s key players this season and is unarguably one of the best strikers in Europe at the moment, having scored 16 goals across all competitions.
With the Black and Reds in contention for the Bundesliga title, it remains to be seen whether they will be ready to part ways with their striker this month.
Boniface is presently recovering from a groin injury that ruled him out of participating in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations and is unlikely to return till April.
