Former Turkish international Yilmaz Vural has expressed skepticism about Galatasaray’s ability to secure Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen on a permanent basis, as per Haber Sari Kirmizi.
The 2023/24 Süper Lig champions have been impressed by Osimhen’s performances since his loan move from Napoli, but his reported €75 million valuation appears to be a significant hurdle.
Osimhen has quickly become a key player for Galatasaray, demonstrating both goal-scoring prowess and playmaking skills. In a recent 1-0 victory over Boldrum FK, the 25-year-old created a clear scoring opportunity for teammate Hakim Ziyech, whose miss became a talking point in Turkish and international media. Since his debut, Osimhen has contributed to goals in all but two matches, underscoring his impactful presence on the field.
Speculation has arisen about Galatasaray pursuing a permanent transfer for Osimhen. However, Vural believes the club should consider more financially viable options.
“Victor Osimhen is a magnificent footballer. He can pass people with his dribble, he has incredible control over aerial balls. He is a real center forward, and his technical and physical characteristics are very good. However, €75 million is too much. Our big teams like Galatasaray should acquire names like Barış Alper Yılmaz and Kerem Aktürkoğlu from the lower leagues.”
Despite a clause in his loan agreement allowing a departure in January, Osimhen has reaffirmed his commitment to Galatasaray, indicating no intention to leave during the upcoming transfer window.
